The Advantages of a Thermostat
When comparing thermostats and mixer taps, thermostats have the advantage of being able to set the temperature exactly where you want it. Another huge advantage is that thermostats provide a constant temperature, regardless of water pressure fluctuations or changes in the water temperature in the pipes, which can happen, for example, when someone else in the house turns on a faucet or flushes the toilet. Using a thermostat reliably protects you from sudden temperature fluctuations while showering.
The ability to set the temperature exactly and have it remain constant often results in water savings. This is because, instead of adjusting the water temperature up and down while you wait for the unused flow of water to get to the right temperature, using a thermostat in your shower or tub means the water is at the right temperature almost instantly.
Installation Methods for Thermostats
When installing a shower thermostat or a bathtub thermostat, there are basically two options: either an exposed or a concealed installation, with the latter depending on the existing connections. Both options have different advantages.
Exposed
With exposed installation, the entire faucet is installed on the wall; this is also the classic installation method. In this case, the faucets are particularly easy to replace, which is why this installation method is also very popular as a solution for remodels. An exposed installation can also serve as an aesthetic highlight thanks to the high-quality design of Duravit faucets.
Concealed
In contrast to an exposed installation, a concealed installation provides a minimalist, clean look since a bathtub faucet with a thermostat or the shower faucet with a thermostat is completely concealed inside the wall, and only the controls remain visible. This type of installation not only saves a lot of space but is also quick and easy to clean.
Universal Duravit Thermostats
With their universal design, Duravit thermostats can simply and easily be combined with other Duravit faucets and showers – regardless of the individual design series. The concealed versions are available in both square and round models so you can find the perfect match for any design and to suit your individual tastes.
In addition, showers with thermostats are available as part of a complete shower system. In this case, the thermostat is integrated directly into the shower faucet. Duravit shower systems are also available with the MinusFlow feature. This feature further reduces the already low water consumption of all Duravit faucets. When combined with the lower consumption of a shower thermostat, you can save a substantial amount of water and energy without sacrificing comfort.
The different finishes also provide you with the greatest possible freedom of design. To ensure that all Duravit design series work well with one another, selected exposed and concealed solutions, as well as complete shower systems, are available in classic chrome, and elegant matte black. Whether it's a rain shower with a thermostat or a bathtub with a thermostat, you can choose any combination according to your individual tastes.

MinusFlow
In shower systems with MinusFlow, the flow rate is limited to a maximum of 2.4 gpm (9 l/min). This reduces water consumption by up to 40% for hand showers and up to 60% for overhead showers.
